Last update: September 2025; written on my desk (finally) in a 27°C afternoon.

A General Update

I am still working at Helvia and living peacefully in my little hometown with my beautiful companion. I am happy with that. I don’t want to live in big cities and, as I grow older, I feel I am attracted more and more to nature and the countryside. Not that I am in the countryside, but to give you an idea. I am in the perfect compromise between my “I wanna go living in the middle of a forest” and my partner “I don’t want to live too far away.” My hometown is also growing more interesting in the last years, with more events and cultural activities and sport events and new shops.

September has been good so far. The new volleyball season is about to start. All is good.

Things I did recently

• I made a bunch of small tools to solve some personal annoyance. I would like to write an article on them.
• On my day job, I am focusing on MCP servers, so I started creating MCP servers for my specific use cases (starting with a Calibre one).
• I create a new section for short posts on my blog. I didn’t use it a lot now, but I just didn’t have the time.

Things I am Working On

As someone with more ideas than time or energy to pursue them, this list will be a mess. But anyway, here’s what I’m working on:

• I am sitting on 3 first-draft novels I will have to revise at some point.
  • The Alchemist is a nice world, but I strangled myself into a very complicated temporal mechanic. I have some plot points to solve.
  • The Alignment Problem is the one I have made for NaNoWriMo 2025. It is more traditional sci-fi, so it has less problematic plot developments. I may give it a spin to see if it has more momentum.
  • I have an itch to finally cleaning up my second novel. Just to put that in a state in which I am “okay” with it. So that I can move on.
• Still sporadically writing on my Italian blog L’Ornitorinco Elegante. Not as frequent as I wish, but I am just a single person.
• Everything else (blog posts and personal projects) are in a confusing mess, but I am kinda working things out.
• I am finally working on my personal journaling app called “Captain’s Log.” This was in my someday list for years.

Things I am Reading

During my vacation trip in August, I discovered the litRPG genre and I am starting the seven books series (so far) of Dungeon Crawler Carl. I am also finally taking the Three-Body Problem trilogy.

Things I am Watching

In 2024, I watched almost 200 movies. I rediscovered my movie passion and that I actually have a lot of time for them if I remove all the useless crap I did in their place.

• Star Trek Strange New Worlds is now ended. It ended on a descending not, but a solid season nevertheless.
• Wednesday is always adorable in its distorted way.
• I am also enjoying the new season of Only Murders in the Building.
• Very little movies in the last month, but I try to keep the one-per-week streak.

Things I am Playing

I am playing a bit more on my Steam Deck.

I got a Switch 2 because I am a sucker. I didn’t had a lot of time to play, but Gioia is enjoying Mario Kart World. :)

I bought Ufo 50 and I am playing it. Very sporadically.

I also played Silksong, of course. But, as usual, gaming is very low on my priority scale recently.
